HYBRID BELTS - 3 LAPS - FIA (SFI 16.1 ON REQUEST)

HYBRID BELTS - 3" LAPS - FIA (SFI 16.1 ON REQUEST)

The Hybrid belts are a breakthrough in Harness design, blending a formula style harness with something much more effective that gives excellent restraint in an extremely comfortable package.

Typical Formula restraints (Profi II Formula/Profi III Formula) display high upper torso trajectory during a crash. To reduce this trajectory, the crotch straps have to be routed backwards and to be worn extremely tight. Some drivers complain of reduced blood flow in their legs. In addition, this configuration does not help during a rear impact to keep the buckle and the lap belt in place. In particular in typical open wheel race car seating positions the driver is not kept firmly in his seat but is likely to move up exceeding the roll over protection.

The so called "T-bar" 6 point restraints (Profi II-6/Profi III-5/Profi III-6) provide a better restraining function since the anti-sub straps can be routed downward following approximately a chest/crotch tangential. This keeps the buckle in place and provides direct load transfer from the shoulder straps into the Anti-sub strap. During a rear impact the Anti-sub strap keeps the buckle and lap belt in place and restrains the driver much better in the seat. The disadvantage of this type of harness: the T-bar should have a certain width to properly separate the Anti-sub straps but is likely to stick into the upper thighs. To increase the comfort, the buckle is often not worn as low as it should be for best lap belt positioning.

The solution: the revolutionary Schroth Hybrid restraint. The crotch straps are not routed through D-rings or attached to a T-bar, but are held directly by the specially developed lap belt latches.

INTERIOR NETS - SFI 37.1 & FIA

INTERIOR NETS - SFI 37.1 & FIA

SCHROTH offers this high quality Right Side Driver's Net for the best in driver safety. Attaches to the cage of your race car. Made of polyester, these nets will last longer than competitor's nylon nets - Polyester is not as susceptible to UV degradation over time.

We view Right Side Nets (also called "Cage Nets") as a mandatory piece of safety equipment. In an impact, the body moves forward 6-8 inches. This is normal and quite necessary because to prevent injury, the harnesses stretch to decelerate the body. If you are in an offset impact (an impact that is not straight on) there are high lateral forces that will move you side to side. If you do not have a Right Side Net, it is very easy for the body to wrap around the side of the seat when the harnesses have stretched.

A Right Side Net prevents this by guiding your head and shoulders back into the seat keeping you from painful injury.

Please note, this used to be an SFI rated product, but is now FIA.

The nets are tested with a DYNAMIC load so it more accurately represents the real world.
Read carefully the section about installing the net in the car. The FIA requires that 2 vertical sections are in contact with the seat back to provide support. Schroth has added additional vertical sections to the FIA net so the 2 nets are not the same. Also make note of the angles involved in the installation.
The FIA recommends that a net be installed on either side of the seat for driver restraint, the FIA does not view the exterior net as adequate for restraining the driver, they would like to see two interior nets whenever possible. Tudor series currently enforces this and mandates two interior nets as well as a window net.
